Motivational Currents of Indonesian Postgraduate Students Studying Abroad

Motivational currents, a relatively new concept in the field of language learning, has contributed to understanding how long-term motivational energy can be sustained among learners. Despite such critical contribution, little is known on one its core elements called vision, vivid image one’s future self, sustainable long period. This resulted difficulty for teachers create currents their article aims at contributing dynamic nature vision phenomena currents. It reports Retrodictive Qualitative Modelling (RQM) study conducted using complex system’s frame. The data were gathered from Indonesian postgraduate students studying university United Kingdom introspective, semi-structured interview and self-assessed trajectory. They then analyzed Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). findings show that participants experienced although visions or images selves slightly changing during will discussed with regards interconnectedness between system self-system. ended by outlining some pedagogical implications as well recommendations research.Keywords: currents; vision; system.
